NEW VIDEOS: "HALLELUJAH" AND "SHEVIRAH"
September 22, 2009

This past July I played a quiet showcase at a charming, quirky venue in North Hollywood, CA called Kulak's Woodshed. The gig was filmed, and the footage has been waiting for editing the weeks since. This morning I finally completed the task, and it's my great pleasure now to share a couple song clips with you: a piano/vocal cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and a previously unreleased ballad called "Shevirah."

"Hallalujah" is viewable at this website's video page. And both clips are posted at my YouTube channel.

James Hames, a journalist from the online newspaper My Daily Find, was in the audience at Kulak's Woodshed, and published this review:

Daniel’s set was a melange of sweet-voiced folk embellishing captivating melodies and tasty hooks, delightfully played on acoustic guitar and piano. His wry lyrics served as an able presage to his version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” — only slightly retouched; a brave choice for the comparisons it begs to Rufus Wainwright’s and Jeff Buckley’s famous covers. Daniel’s treatment stands well among them.

Thank you, James!

BLUE POP 10TH ANNIVERSARY, AND FREE DOWNLOAD!
June 22, 2009

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the release of my debut album Blue Pop! Can't believe it's been a decade since the CD first hit record stores... This news post is to thank you all—fans, friends, and family—for your ongoing, enthusiastic support.

Originally released by APG Music, and then reissued digitally in 2006, Blue Pop continues to earn new fans worldwide. I could not be more delighted by the album's staying power, or more deeply flattered. In celebration and thanks, I've posted an MP3 of "Finally Asleep"—a song that was recorded for Blue Pop but left off the CD—at the extras page of my website. An unmastered version of the song circulated around the internet some years back, and it's my great pleasure to have now mastered the track, and to offer it to you finished and for FREE!

Also, upcoming in August, the Blue Pop 10th anniversary celebration continues with a reunion gig by The Adam Daniel Frequency! We're getting the band back together, man! For one night only, as part of David Bash's International Pop Overthrow festival here in Los Angeles, CA, me, Derrick, Brian, and new drummer Topher will be playing "Cured," "Her Shake," and all your Blue Pop favorites. Details are posted at this website's tour page.

My love and thanks to you all!

CAFE WA S
April 14, 2009

Wanted to tell you all about my new weekly gig... I'm a piano man! Ivan Kane's new Hollywood bistro Cafe Wa s has a baby grand on a rotating platform in the middle of the floor, and you'll find me at it most weekends. I play and sing an improbable selection of covers, including:

"Starlight" by Muse
"You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse
"Rockin' In the Free World" by Neil Young
"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley
"Somebody Told Me" by The Killers
"Still Loving You" by The Scorpions

I do enjoy myself... Cafe Wa s is an amazing restaurant/bar with awesome ambience, and the best bacon-wrapped dates you'll ever eat. My nights vary, so sign up for my e-list if you want to know when I'm there week-to-week.

THE FLUTTERBIES
March 25, 2009

Last year I wrote some cool alt-country songs with a local singer/songwriter named Maureen Davis. Maureen and I also played some acoustic gigs together, billed under her band name: The Flutterbies (pronounced "Flutter-byes"). This past fall, Maureen recorded some of the songs we wrote! I wasn't involved with the sessions, but the resulting EP is awesome and I'm proud to endorse it as an official Adam Daniel project.

The EP is called The Flutterbies featuring Maureen Davis. It's available now on CD at CDBaby, and digitally at iTunes, etc. Here's a bunch of links:

The Flutterbies EP at iTunes

If you like alt-country in the mode of Ryan Adams, Tift Merritt, Bonnie Raitt, etc. you'll be delighted! And I'll be sitting in with the band from time-to-time, both live and on record.
